Love Acts

Happy Valentine’s Day my brothers and sisters! (Yes! It is still Valentines Day…Everyday) In the name of Jesus I pray that all of our expressions of love go beyond flowers and Gifts. In the name of Jesus may your love for family and significant others be the kind of love that doesn’t bring pain and distress. May your love for one another bring joy and comfort even if you stand the chance of being hurt. Be willing to protect those you love. Don’t embarrass or degrade them.

In the name of Jesus lift them up and help them fulfill their God-given potential. Brothers and sisters when you truly love someone, you are concerned about their physical, as well as their mental well-being. You have a strong desire to protect them from all harm. You do not want to see them overworked and exhausted or ill so you always jump in and try to help them out even if you don’t quite know how.

Take the bitter with the sweet and dismiss things that don’t really matter. Fight battles together because United you stand but divided the both of you will fall. 1st Thessalonians 5:11 says encourage one another and build one another up. And that Galatians 6:2 says bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. And lastly my brothers and sisters, remember that First Corinthians 13: 4- 5 says love is patient and kind, love does not envy or boast, it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way, it is not irritable or resentful. Listen, some of you may be in the midst of fiery disagreements or you may feel as though you’re being drowned by troubled waters. However, always remember that in Isaiah 43:2, God said “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you, when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.”  Brothers and sisters, love is an action word. Today and always love with helpful actions and not just words.
