Matthew 8:23-28 explains how Jesus got into the boat and started across the lake with his disciples. (and) Suddenly, a fierce storm struck the lake, with waves breaking into the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” Jesus responded, “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!” Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm. Brothers and sisters, we all run into those and “Suddenly” moments where unexpected dangers come and we see our faith is not as strong as we thought it was. Nevertheless, we must rest in the fact that He is also able to rescue us from the storms of everyday life: such as sickness, unemployment, marriage and family problems, and even death because 1st Corinthians 15:55 says “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” Those who trust in the finished works of Jesus Christ won’t experience eternal damnation which is the sting of death. Be not afraid he rebukes even the fiercest storms.
