What were you thinking?

It totally baffles me how a person can leave a child sitting in the back of the car in extreme heat. Was the parent communicating with the child before exiting the car? Was the child on the parents mind at all? Was the parent thinking about job-related issues? Was this person in a state of severe stress? What in the world was that parent or guardian thinking about? A child is a very special gift from God and is a real person. It is understandable if you leave the grocery in the car and the ice-cream melts, but leaving a child in the car? What’s really going on?
Honestly, I believe that people are moving too fast and have far more distractions than they can hold in their minds. With all the chaos, and ugly things going on in this world, it is a wonder how the carnal mind can keep from exploding. I guess this is the reason we have so many schizophrenic cases.
If we take it upon ourselves to realize that our little puny minds are finite and cannot function properly without God, we would have the ability to be wiser, have greater discernment, discretion, self-control and the ability to multitask in the midst of life’s riddles, woes, distractions and just every day matters we struggle with. Psalm 127:3 (ESV) reminds us saying, “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Mar 4:19 reminds us saying and the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. (KJV) Parenting is a very challenging responsibility. Some people have not prepared themselves for parenthood nor do they have established priorities. Losing a child is losing your precious fruit that God allowed you to grow.
Our children depend on us to pave their way and to keep them safe. Now some might try to blame God and say, how could God allow this to happen? It’s not God’s fault, it is sin attached to the situation somewhere down the line. Sin kills. Let’s us pray for those who are so taken by what’s going on in this world or in their lives. Let’s pray that the Lord give them the ability to keep their mind on Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit will keep them sharp, attentive, and full of great discernment. Let us pray these people get into the Word of God and learn how to exercise self-control, discipline, and godly wisdom and knowledge.
