Arguing is not Cool

Have you ever met a person who makes an argument out of everything. You talk about what type of car you like and they argue that another car is better. You talk about your dreams and aspiration…they try to shut your dreams down so you can get into what they are dreaming about. You engage in a conversation about the various types of foods you like and they find something wrong with what you eat. Overall, these people tire you out and cause you to no longer desire their company.

In a nutshell, these are the people with an argumentative spirit. These are the button pushers that Satan use get us  to lose control…to take our mind off of exhibiting Christ-like attitudes. You have to watch out or that argumentative spirit will jump on you.

Listen to what the Bible says about arguing. 2 Timothy 2:23-24 reminds us saying… Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome, but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil,. James 3:17 tells us that the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.

This how some people make us feel...right?
This how some people make us feel…right?

Knowing all this, those who proclaim they are a Christian and carry on in arguments must evaluate themselves honestly. After seeing the error of their ways, it is wise to take it to the Lord in prayer and ask him to help overcome that offensive spirit of arguing and give them a cool spirit.

You see, we are to draw people unto the Lord so they can glorify God in all his mighty works in us and for us. An argumentative person is blinded by selfishness and out of control. This type of attitude is like a disease. Indeed the argumentative person is at a dis-ease. This person must ask God to get to the root of the real problem and give them strength to be obedient to Him transforming them and giving them a cool/calm attitude like Jesus Christ.
