Are You on the World’s side or God’s Side?

Worldliness

Be honest, do you really believe in the Holy Bible?  If you do believe it, will you devote time to it in order to cure thinking as the world does? James tells us how to cure Worldliness.

James stated some hard truths in James chapter 4:4-8. He stated:

Jam 4:4      You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God.

Jam 4:5      What do you think the Scriptures mean when they say that the spirit God has placed within us is filled with envy?

Jam 4:6      But he gives us even more grace to stand against such evil desires. As the Scriptures say, “God opposes the proud but favors the humble.”

Jam 4:7      So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Jam 4:8      Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.

Submitting to God brings us freedom from slavery to the devil. Submitting means complete dependence and trust in God and his Holy Word.  Submitting brings us into agreement with God. We cannot walk with him unless we are in agreement with him. Amos chapter 3 verse 3 reminds us “Can two walk together, except they be agreed”?
